Viral and host RNA dynamics in tissues from lethal Ebola virus disease in rhesus monkeys

To assess the molecular basis of EVD infection across time, we performed host and viral RNA sequencing on 17 distinct tissue types from 21 infected rhesus monkeys. We then analyzed gene expression changes and viral mutation patterns. Rhesus monkeys were infected with Ebola virus, sacrificed at 0, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 days post infection, and tissues were collected for data generation and analysis. Additionally, some blood samples were drawn from these monkeys 30, 28, and 14 days prior to infection (D-30, D-28, and D-14, respectively). Finally, there are organ-specific RNA samples which we received from the manufacturer Zyagen; these therefore do not have a "time".
