Purpose: The goals of this study are to characterize and analyze the transcriptome (RNA-seq) of emrbyonic day 12.5 cultured cardiomyocytes treated with simvastatin Methods: mRNA profiles of control and simvastatin treated E12.5 cardiomocyteswere generated by deep sequencing, n=4 for each condition, using Illumina HiSeq2500. Results: Using an optimized data analysis workflow, we mapped at least 34 million sequence reads per sample to the mouse genome (build mm10) and identified approximately 16,000 transcripts. Embryonic day 12.5 (E12.5) cardiomyocytes were isolated from C57/Bl6 mice and treated in culture with control or media containing 10 micromolar simvastatin.
