Global aquaculture production is steadily increasing to meet the protein requirement of increased population with the improved modern aquaculture techniques. An improved aquaculture technique, IPRS (In-Ppond-Rraceway Ssystem) (IPRS) is a recent addition of improved technology for higher fish production. The microbial population in the aquatic system is critical for health management of farmed fish. development and quality. However, the effects of modern aquaculture technology used in aquaculture onthe microbial community in aquatic environments is not explored in most cases. Thus, the present study was designed to investigate the microbial community in water and sediment of IPRS through conventional microbiology and metagenomics approaches. Water and sediment samples from IPRS pond, IPRS cell, sludge and sludge collection zone were investigated in the current study.
