Survey of Trichogramma species in France with information related to their host plants and habitats

The dataset presented in this article results from a wide sampling of Trichogramma strains in several habitats in France as well as in some neighbouring countries. The main aims of this survey were, on one side, to collect precise the geographical and ecological distributions of some Trichogramma strains and, on the other, assemble a large collection of living strains for scientific purposes. Sampling was realised on 156 plants sprayed over 92 different sites using Ephestia kuehniella sentinel eggs, directly sprayed on the plants or previously applied on a sticky paper. From theses samples and based on the sequencing of part of the mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I, we distinguished 10 species of trichograms, four of themhaving been identified to the species level (T. cacoeciae, T. evanescens, T. cordubensis, T. semblidis). This dataset is made publicly available to enable further scientific investigations as well as to deal with regulation about exotic species by improving the knowledge of the native biodiversity.
