Lasius niger highres microCT

After CPD the heads were carefully mounted on the tip of a glass syringe using a hot glue gun. A nanotom m (GE Measurement &amp; Control, Wunstorf, Germany), equipped with an X-ray cone beam setup was used for scanning. Magnifications were defined through geometrical relations that based on the distances between sample, source and detector. The heads were scanned at a voltage of 110 kV, 120 μA current and 0.75 s exposure time at an averaging of 4, which resulted in a scanning time of 90 minutes and 1500 number of projections acquired during scan. The tomographic reconstruction was performed using the standard parameters offered by the phoenix datos|x 2.2 reconstruction software on a separate workstation. <em>L. niger</em>: resulted in a voxel size of 0.805 µm.
