CD11b restricts alveolar macrophage activation during pneumococcal pneumonia and prevents excessive lung inflammation

In a murine lung infection model with Streptococcus pneumoniae, we found significant transcriptomic and proteomic adaptations by resident alveolar macrophages. Our study provides novel insights into the molecular adaptations of alveolar macrophages upon lung infection with Streptococcus pneumoniae.
