China Institute for Educational Finance Research-Household Survey, CIEFR-HS

China Institute for Educational Finance Research-Household Survey (CIEFR-HS) is jointly conducted by China Institute for Educational Finance Research and the Survey and Research Center for China Household Finance in Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China. The survey employs a stratified three-stage probability proportion to size random sample design. The 2017 wave covered 29 provinces, 355 cities/districts/counties. Over 40,000 households participated. Among the 127,000 household members, about 21,000 attended schools, and 14,000 were k12 school students. The CIEFR-HS collected detailed information on K12 students’ educational opportunities, government subsidies and detailed household education expenditures.
