Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Communities (North West Landscape of the Border Rivers-Gwydir catchments)

The CMA will work with partners to improve the capacity of local people to deliver agricultural products from a sustainable natural resource base. This will be delivered through a combination of community awareness, incentives and extension. Partnerships established with industry groups, community groups, agencies and learning institutions will be consolidated. Together, best practice, trials and demonstrations will be promoted to show innovative approaches used by local people to improve their sustainability. In turn, adoption rates will increase and the community will become more resilient and able to respond to threats and opportunities created by changing climates and fluctuations in commodity prices. Indigenous people will be engaged across all project areas with development of leadership and involvement in planning central to the projects design. This project will be delivered in conjunction with the Regional Landcare Facilitator and the Sustainable Environment stream to maximise the impact of investment.
