Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is one of the important crops in the world. The yield of sweet potato is affected by the number of storage (SR) per plants. Since SRs develop from adventitious root (AR), the mechanisms responsible for the initiation and development of AR need to be elucidated in more detail in order to increased plant productivity.We carried out a transcriptomic analysis between nodes containing AR primordia and stems using next-generation sequencing. We found that a total of 6,219 contigs exhibited higher expression levels in the nodes than in the stems.
