he inkwell is made of purple blown glass, coloured with the use of nickel oxide or manganese oxide. It has the shape of a short cuboid with a square base and bevelled corners. The neck of the vessel is short, round and enclosed by an annular fitting of thin gold sheet with an engraved inscription, reading: "May 3, 1791, Count Stanisław Nałęcz Małachowski". On the interior walls of the case, two brass plates with engraved inscriptions were attached, which read: "The Constitution of the Third of May | was signed | using the ink from this inkwell" and "It belonged to Marshal | Małachowski, and later to his nephew Onufry | It was taken over by the Tarnowski family | after his and his wife's, née Tarnowska, death".
