Greenhouse study: sequencing of soil and root fungal communities under drought

Within this experiment, beech and spruce seedlings grew in different soils of a natural precipitation gradient. A two-month drought was applied and soil and root-associated fungal communities were compared between the different soil regions and tree species including species mixture. The study aimed to reveal if fungal communities originating from a dry region soil were better adapted to drought compared to communities from a moist region and if it can be connected to the tree's drought response.
