Swarming is an aggregation that brings mayfly males and females together during their ephemeral life. Leptophlebia marginata males swarm in general using vertical objects such as trees as swarm markers. At a single locality in central Finland there is, in addition to the pattern beside trees another, synchronous swarming mode at a low level over light objects on the ground.
