Metagenome for rumen fluid and feces of dairy cows

In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of microbial functional groups in the rumen and feces of dairy cows suffering from postpartum nutritional diarrhea. A total of 24 postpartum dairy cows (12 diarrhea and 12 non-diarrhea) were included in the study. Fresh rumen fluid was collected via rumen cannulation and fecal samples were collected rectally. Subsequently, metagenomics was conducted to analyze the rumen and fecal samples and clarify the contribution of microbial function genes in different gastrointestinal regions to nutritional diarrhea in dairy cows.
