Fuel ethanol production in the U.S. 1980-2023

Fuel ethanol production in the United States has considerably increased since 1980, reaching 15.6 billion gallons in 2023. This was down from a peak of 16.1 billion gallons in 2018. Iowa has the largest ethanol production capacity in the United States, at some 4.81 billion gallons per year.
