We use 16S and ITS meta barcoding to describe bacterial and fungal communities in three salt marsh adapted species: Nelson (Ammospiza nelsoni subvirgata), saltmarsh (Ammospiza caudacuta), and seaside (Ammospiza maritima) sparrows. We also sequence marsh sediment microbial communities, a potential source of environmental microbe acquisition for these ground-foraging taxa.
