Genome-Resolved Analysis of Rumen Microbiota Responses to Methanogenesis Inhibition in Dairy Calves

This study investigates the effects of the methanogenesis inhibitor 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP) on rumen microbiota in dairy calves, using a combination of genome-resolved metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequencing. The dataset includes microbial genome catalogs, metagenomic and metatranscriptomic reads, and metadata linked to methane emissions, short-chain fatty acid profiles, and host performance. The findings provide a species-resolved understanding of how rumen microbiota remodel in response to 3-NOP supplementation, revealing potential pathways for enhancing livestock sustainability and productivity.
