Analysis of Glycogen Metabolism in T2DM Rat

Disordered hepatic glucose metabolism is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Glycogen branching enzyme 1 (GBE1), critical for glycogen structure, exhibits physiological plasticity, yet its response to exercise is not well characterized. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential molecular mechanisms by which aerobic exercise modulates hepatic GBE1 and the insulin signaling–glycogen axis to restore glycogen architecture and improve hepatic glucose metabolism in rats with T2DM and NAFLD.
