This project aims to elucidate the genomic architecture of fragrant plants and decipher the functions of genes involved in aroma biosynthesis. In particular, the project places special emphasis on aromatic plants that have not been extensively studied to date. By sequencing and annotating the genomes of these plants and performing comprehensive analyses of gene expression, we aim to identify the key genetic elements underlying their appealing scents. Moreover, although aromatic plants are the primary target, we also intend to investigate additional traits beyond fragrance to gain a broader understanding of their overall biological characteristics. This integrated approach, combining genome and gene expression analysis, is expected to advance our knowledge in plant biology, breeding, and biotechnology.
