Sandtray Dataset

This dataset originates from a digital psychological sandplay platform designed for therapeutic and research purposes. It includes three interrelated components:
Sandtray Images: High-resolution snapshots automatically saved by the sanplay platform at the end of each sandplay session, fully presenting the final layout of the sandtray. These images preserve key visual characteristics, including color palette, spatial layout, and holistic composition.
Operation-Process/Sequence Logs: Structured time-series records documenting user interactions during the session. Each log entry contains timestamps (handleTime), operation types (handleType), manipulated objects/miniatures (handleObj), and 3D spatial coordinates (currentPosX, currentPosY, currentPosZ), among others.
Semantic Annotations of Sandtray Miniatures: Expert-derived textual descriptions capturing the psychological symbolism of each miniature used in the platform. These annotations are grounded in established sandplay theory and clinical interpretation. For instance, Buddha symbolizes inner peace, compassion, and spiritual integration; Skull, evokes themes of mortality, loss, danger, or existential anxiety; Yama (King of Hell) reflects intense emotions such as guilt, retribution, or suppressed anger.
The dataset consists of 6,208 sandtray samples, with 1,548 positive samples and 537 negative samples. In the id_label.csv file, sp-id is the sandtray ID, label is the annotation corresponding to the sandtray, where 0 represents unlabeled samples, 1 represents abnormal samples, and 2 represents normal samples.
All data are collected with informed consent under ethical guidelines for psychological research. The dataset is intended for non-clinical, research-oriented applications in computational psychology, affective computing, and mental health. Identifiable personal information has been removed or anonymized to protect participant privacy.
