Strain Localization and Seismic Properties in the Heterogeneous Ailaoshan-Red River Shear Zone, Southeast Asia

Crustal-scale shear zones are critical in controlling the tectonic evolution of the lithosphere as the most significant linear strain zones. Within these zones, crustal anatexis and ductile shearing have a significant impact on strain localization. In this study, we investigated the rheological parameters and seismic properties of migmatites and granitic mylonites in the ASRR-SZ. Our results provide deformation temperatures for the shear zone and quantify the strain localization characteristics using rheology parameters. Additionally, we found that the seismic properties of different rock types can reflect relevant geological processes. Finally, we systematically provided seismic properties for different rocks as a basis for interpreting observed seismic anisotropy.
