Acidiferrobacter is a new acidophilic, facultatively anaerobic genus that belongs to the Ectothiorhodospiraceae family. Acidiferrobacter thiooxydans ZJ was isolated from an acid mine drainage (AMD) sample. The draft genome sequence is the first report to scan its genetic constitution for its expanded use as an iron- and sulfur-oxidizer in bioleaching.
