资源简介:
During the period of February 1975 to August 1979 twenty-three oceanographic cruises were made by the NOAA Ships RESEARCHER and GEORGE B. KELEZ in the New York Bight. The objective of the cruises was to supply data to provide a base for analysis of the water characteristics and movements, and to provide a baseline to be used in assessing the impacts of contaminants in the New York Bight. This report presents Winkler dissolved oxygen values from samples collected in the New York Bight during Expanded Water Column Characterization cruises (XWCC-2 to XWCC-24) conducted in this period. Since electronic oxygen values are also recorded, these are also included in the listing. The results indicate that there are differences between the two values. These differences result from the instability of the electrode calibration and the fact that the electrode often does not completely equilibrate due to temperature compensation problems. The results also indicate that exceptionally low dissolved oxygen values were observed in the bottom waters off the New Jersey coast during 1976, associated with an anoxic event. 1981 NOAA General Documents Library Public Domain 1930
