Establishing sustainable agroecosystems for improving soil production, structure, and fertility is of marked concern. However, the effects of organic amendment (straw and biochar returnto the field) and conventional farming systems on long-term soil characteristics remain to be understood. We conducted a field experiment for 6 years to investigate the effects of traditional inorganic fertilizer, straw return to the field, and straw biochar return to the field on soil physiochemical properties, soil aggregation, and bacterial community structure in different soil depths in a rice-wheat cropping system.
