VPRS 1293 Register Of Pastoral Licences

This series provides details of the pastoral runs held and the payments made for rents and other fees. Details given are the name of the run, the district in which it was situated, the name of the licensee, details of rents payable at each half year and of notices in the Government Gazette and inclusions in the Red-Faced Report (confirming that statutory conditions were being met) and the amounts paid as rent and fees. Other details are those of transfer of the lease or license and any waiving or postponement of rent payments.Provisions relating to pastoral leases were changed in the Land Act 1898 with occupants being able to select a homestead allotment until 29 December 1899 and with the lease to remain in force until then. Thereafter , Section 16 allowed the leasing of pastoral allotments until 1909 or the occupant had the option of leasing under Section 29 Land Act 1898 (Section 35 Land Act 1901) or Section 123 Land Act 1890 (Section 187 Land Act 1901). The decisions made in each case are shown in the final volume of this series.
