Dataset for "Charting shared intentions: student‑driven applied research into trackpilot‑based traffic information in inland navigation"

In this project, the aim was to investigate the usefulness, limitations, and prerequisites of sharing trackpilot‑based intention information in inland navigation. The research data consists of interview transcripts of interviews with 4 VTS-operators and documented trackpilot use on regular inland voyages, in the form of logbooks. The data was collected between October 14, 2025 and December 11th, 2025 in The Netherlands. The results of the study showed that VTS operators identified a recurring lack of clear intention information and saw potential for intention sharing to support earlier anticipation and reduce routine communication—provided the information is reliable, selectively displayed and free from visual clutter.
