Table S4. Significant correlations between predicted functions and the compositional changes of DOM. Pearson’s correlation coefficient tests were performed between predicted FOAM functions (level 1 and 2) and the compositional changes of DOM along first and second canonical axes obtained from canonical correlation analysis (CCorA). CCorA was performed using the first five principal coordinate (PCo1–5) axes of DOM composition and PCo1–2 axes of FOAM orthologs. It resulted in two canonical axes (P < 0.01, chi-square test) along which significant correlations were observed between functional potentials and DOM composition (P < 0.013).
