Streptomyces spongiicola is a bacterium species of the genus Streptomyces, which has been originally isolated from a marine sponge. We determined the draft genome sequence of S. spongiicola strain 531S isolated from marine sediment at beach of Sesoko island (Okinawa, Japan). The genome information of S. spongiicola strain 531S and comparative genome analyses will contribute to studies on the physiologically active compounds.
