Sampling was conducted at Dongwushi Reservoir (DWS; 36.408 N, 114.302 E) and Yuecheng Reservoir (YC; 36.292 N, 114.171 E), both located in Handan City, Hebei Province, China. In total, we collected 33 soil samples. Each sample was divided into two portions: one for metagenomic sequencing and the other for metatranscriptomic sequencing. Due to the transient nature of RNA, only 23 of the 33 samples yielded qualified RNA sequences for transcriptomic analysis. Therefore, this project includes RNA sequence data from 23 samples.
