This is the first report on the presence of the plasmid-coded mcr-1 gene in Shigella flexneri strain isolated in China. By testing the sensitivity of colistin of S. flexneri C960, the MIC is 4 mg/L and its transconjugant has the same MIC to colistin. This is the first report describing of an activated form of the mcr-1 gene in S. flexneri strain.
