Centurial degradation of insect diversity in Czech lowland rivers

Species and environmental data were collected from 14 sites across 9 lowland rivers between the 1950s and 2020. Species data include Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera. Environmental data comprise 12 parameters: Qa, Q330d, Ta, BOD5, TP, N-NH4, N-NO3, Cl, ANC, pH, %O₂, and HMF. The dataset is divided into seven time periods: (i) 1956–1964 (12 samples from 9 river sections), (ii) 1976–1985 (15/13), (iii) 1986–1996 (17/12), (iv) 1997–2003 (16/12), (v) 2005–2009 (30/14), (vi) 2010–2014 (35/14), and (vii) 2015–2020 (35/14). The dataset is structured to enable analyses of temporal changes in community composition and to test the effects of environmental factors on species composition.
