A color postcard of the Mission Play entitled, "Pageant of the Indian Crafts, Second Act," San Gabriel, California, USA, circa 1920s. Published by Pacific Novelty Company, San Francisco and Los Angeles, California, USA. A man in Spanish attire sits at the left with a guitar on his lap, while an American Indian man stands at his side and plays a flute. More American Indians stand at the left of the center in a single-file line and hold items such as baskets, pottery, and hides. A group of Franciscan priests at the right look at one of the American Indian men. Four Spanish soldiers stand at attention at the far right. The set across the background consists of an arched portico with a red tile roof, trees, and a church at the right. The title of the image is at the top left while at the right is "MISSION PLAY, SAN GABRIEL, CAL.," all in black ink. On the center of the back is the name, location, and logo of the Pacific Novelty Company. At the top right is a square box for postage. The artifact was found within an envelope, which is item .1, along with more postcards that are items .2-.8 and .10-.11. The object is in good condition with only minor abrasions at the corners.
