Auṣâf-alashrâf (اوصاف الاشراف).

A third mystical treatise of the same Naṣîr-aldîn Ṭûsî, being a very concise and clear exposition of the nature and different stages of the Ṣûfic road (سلوك), which is also called among Ṣûfis, حركت در طلب كمال, ‘the movement for acquiring perfection,’ and of spiritual life in general. It was composed, as is stated in the preface, after the completion, of the author’s chief philosophical work, the اخلاق ناصرى (see further down under ‘Philosophy’), at the request of the great Wazîr Shams-alḥaḳḳ wa-aldîn Muḥammad Ṣâḥib bin Bahâ-aldîn Muḥammad al-Juwainî (to whom Sa’dî dedicated his كتاب صاحبيّه ), see above, No. 1118, 14 sq., and Haft Iḳlîm, No. 797, col. 435 and 436 in this Cat.)

The title appears on fol. 3a, last line; see Ḥ. Khalfa i. p. 494, No. 1487. Other copies of the same treatise are noticed in Rieu ii. p. 829b, No. XIII; Fleischer, Cat. Dresden, No. 348 ; W. Pertsch, Berlin Cat., p. 35, No. 15, and p. 274, No. 3.

The book is divided into six bâbs, each of which, with the exception of the last, contains six faṣls.
