Fīrekers, Mancelis un Gliks ‑ trīs latviešu rakstu valodas stūrakmeņi

This article examines the contributions of three prominent 17th-century figures – Georg Mancelius, Christoph Fürecker, and Ernst Glück to the development of written Latvian. It explores their complementary approaches to orthography, morphology, vocabulary, and stylistics. Mancelius laid the foundation for phonetic and morphological consistency, Fürecker emphasized the role of spoken language and grammatical clarity, and Glück synthesized their work into a coherent and standardized written form, particularly through his complete translation of the Bible. The article highlights their crucial role in the early codification of Latvian as a literary language.
