The genome of Mycoplasma bovis strain 8790 was sequenced as part of the EVOLMYCO initiative funded by The French National Research Agency (ANR). This project aims to study the evolution of ruminant mycoplasmas with a special focus on horizontal gene transfer. Strain 8790 from Mycoplasma bovis was isolated in 1987 from caprine (Ogaden goat) in Harague, Ethiopia. Animals from the herd showed clinical signs of pneumonia and arthitis.
