Humid tropical forests typically contain high soil nitrogen (N), supporting rapid rates of primary productivity and recovery from disturbances. Nitrogen fixation is regulated by microbial communities, which can be free-living in the soil and leaf litter (asymbiotic) or in symbioses with plants. We analyzed the effects of warming on soil and leaf litter bacteria community composition, using 16S and NifH gene sequencing.
