Gordonia polyisoprenivorans strain:135 Genome sequencing

Gordonia polyisoprenivorans strain 135 was isolated from soil contaminated with oil, diesel fuel, and chlorophenols using the enrichment culture method. Samples were taken near the city of Samara, Russia. The strain showed high degradative activity in relation to a whole range of stable pollutants, mono-, di and tri-cyclic aromatic compounds. Along with the ability to degrade a wide range of toxicants, this strain is able to form cyst-like dormant forms to survive adverse conditions and quickly resume growth under favorable conditions, which makes it promising for use as the basis of biological preparations.
