Induction of dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) in a green seaweed by airborne dimethyl sulfide (DMS)

This dataset contains DMSP concentrations from field and laboratory experiments that looked at the induction of the defensive metabolite dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) in an intertidal seaweed <em>Ulva fenestrata</em> by airborne chemical cues. In the field experiment, <em>U. fenestrata</em> were exposed to two potential elicitors that are released when <em>U. fenestrata</em> is damaged by herbivores or physiologically stressed, acrylic acid and dimethyl sulfide (DMS). Responses to the elicitors were measured over 11 days. In the laboratory experiment, <em>U. fenestrata</em> was exposed to DMS, and responses were measured over 15 days.
