Metagenomic/transcriptomic sequencing of bladder tumors of people living with HIV

Solid organ transplant recipients are at a significantly increased risk for developing bladder cancer compared to the general population. This risk is attributed to immune-suppression and potentially infection by BK polyomavirus. Despite also being immune suppressed and at risk for various cancers, people living with HIV (PLWH) are not at an increased risk for bladder cancer. To address whether the tumor virome is different in PLWH, we performed whole genome sequencing and total RNA sequencing of FFPE tumor sections. Human aligning reads have been removed.
