**Overview**

The GitLab MCP Server enables AI assistants to securely connect to your GitLab instance — GitLab.com, Self-Managed, or Dedicated. Agents can manage issues and merge requests, inspect CI/CD pipelines, review diffs and commits, add comments (including internal notes), and perform semantic code search.

The server supports OAuth 2.0 with Dynamic Client Registration: when an AI tool connects for the first time, it automatically registers itself as an OAuth application and initiates an authorization flow — no manual app setup required. Available on Premium and Ultimate tiers, currently in Beta.

Connect at `https://gitlab.com/api/v4/mcp` (GitLab.com) or `https://<your-instance>/api/v4/mcp` (Self-Managed). For clients that don't support remote HTTP transport, a local proxy via `npx mcp-remote` is available.
