Pre-university program for Chinese high school graduates

This paper presents a comprehensive business plan for a Pre-University Program at Thammasat University, targeting Chinese high school graduates. Drawing insights from surveys and interviews conducted with 113 Chinese students in Thailand, 12 Chinese high school students in China, and 20 Chinese students at Thonburi Rajabhat University, the study explores the preferences, challenges, and expectations of Chinese students seeking international education. Key findings reveal that students highly value pre-university programs, with 49.6% rating them as "Extremely Important" for academic readiness. Factors like university reputation, affordable tuition, and adjustment support significantly influence their decision-making. The business plan outlines essential components, including intensive language and academic preparation, health insurance, affordable accommodation, and enhanced campus facilities like modernized classrooms and student lounges. A detailed timeline ensures smooth implementation through phases of marketing, recruitment, and orientation. The program's affordability (60,000–100,000 THB per semester) aligns well with students' financial expectations, while extracurricular activities and cultural immersion enhance their overall experience. The findings also highlight Thailand's benefits as a study destination, including proximity to China, affordable living costs, safety for female students, and comfortable weather year-round. Recommendations for program improvement include adding sports facilities, expanding food variety, particularly Chinese cuisine, and revising the holiday schedule to better meet student needs. This paper concludes that Thammasat University has a unique opportunity to attract Chinese students by addressing their academic and personal requirements, offering a supportive and enriching environment for their educational journey.
