资源简介:
Mycobacterium avium subsp. hominsuis is a human pathogen causing pulmonary and sometimes systemic disease. Generally these infections are treated with more than 1 year of therapy. Despite this, treatment is unsuccessful in ~18% of pulmonary cases (Griffith et al 2015, Am J Respir Crit Care Med). Our research group is interested in the development of new therapeutics for Mycobacterium avium as well as other non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections. Mycobacterium avium strain 109 (MAC109) was originally isolated from the blood of an AIDS patient and has been used in a number of laboratory studies. To enable more detailed genetic studies with this strain we have performed de novo genome sequencing and assembly for this isolate.
