KBU is conducting the RAISE (Rangelands Atmosphere-hydrosphere-biosphere Interaction Study Experiment) to elucidate the interactions between the hydrosphere, biosphere, and atmosphere in the vegetation transition zone of Northeast Asia. An observation station was set up in 2002 to observe meteorological and surface fluxes. KBU has two meteorological stations, one station is located in a protected area with a 200-meter four-way fence to prevent livestock from entering, and the other station is located in an unprotected area in its natural state. The turbulent fluxes of sensible heat, latent heat, CO2 were measured using the eddy covariance system.
