Ryegrass mottle virus complete genome determination and development of infectious cDNA

The primary objective of this project is to elucidate the complete genome sequence of ryegrass mottle virus (RGMoV), a member of the Sobemovirus genus, utilizing an RNA-seq approach. The obtained RGMoV genome sequence has been instrumental in the development of an infectious complementary DNA (icDNA) construct. This icDNA construct holds the potential to significantly advance our comprehension of diverse facets of sobemovirus biology. It opens avenues for deeper insights into critical areas such as replication mechanisms, RNA packaging processes, interactions between the virus and its host, genome modifications, mechanisms of transmission, symptom development, and the range of host organisms susceptible to infection.
