Nymphaea caerulea is an early diverging angiosperm. We generated laser captured microdissected transcriptomes of the seed compartments as well as single nuclei transcriptomics of the whole seed. This study focuses on describing imprinting patterns in the endosperm of water lily and the critical role of auxin in the evolution of the plant seed. We describe the transcriptional landscape of the water lily seed. We provide lists of preferentially expressed genes in the seed compartments and by doing so, are able to delimit tissue specific clusters in our scRNAseq dataset.
