Genomic characterization of FMDV isolated from infected cattle in Bangladesh

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is endemic in Bangladesh, with four out of seven serotypes O, A, C, and Asia 1 are detected in the country, leading to considerable economic losses for animal producers and posing a significant obstacle to the sustainable development and productivity of the livestock sector. Genetic characterization of circulating FMDV isolated from infected cattle in Bangladesh involves the comprehensive analysis of the viral complete genetic material. This allows for the identification of genetic variations in the organism. Sequencing the entire genome helps in better understanding the molecular mechanisms of infection, tracking the epidemiology of the virion, and developing more effective strategies for controlling FMDV in Bangladesh.
