Electricity scenario 2050

In 2010, the discussion platform e-Trend Forum on "Electricity scenario 2050" was launched by Austrian Power Grid AG (APG) and moderated by the Federal Environment Agency. The aim of the e-Trend Forum was to discuss the future framework conditions for the Austrian electricity grid in the field of renewable energy sources. Wind power and photovoltaics in particular will account for a significantly larger share of electricity generation in the future. Storage systems will be increasingly used to compensate for the difference between the weather-related fluctuations in the power fed in by wind and sun and the power consumption. It turns out that with an increased use of pumped storage power plants, the load on the power lines near these storage power plants increases.
