Genomic Diversity and Antimicrobial Resistance profiles of Shigella sonnei and E. coli O37:H10 in under five childern in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

It is important to understand the characteristics of multi-drug resistant pathogens by conducting whole genome sequencing and antimicrobial resistant are highly transferable from one bacterium to another and therefore one bacterium may harbor more than one resistance gene. Whole genome analysis helps us understand the intensity of horizontal transmissibility of drug resistant genes based on the structure of the resistant genes and the presence of transposable elements flanking these genes. So understanding the genome architecture of these resistant gene will help to understand the diversity of the pathogen and strategizing effective treatment option to prevent further spread the disease.
