In this research, we conducted a worldwide, team-based sampling effort, which led to over two thousand samples collected across all six continents. From the total samples collected, 1580 lichens were selected for metabarcoding analysis, based on ITS sequence data using PacBio technology. The resulting dataset offers an unprecedented, worldwide perspective on the lichen-associated eukaryotic microbiome.
