The influence of cultural lag on integration of artificial intelligence in a software development company in the western cape, South Africa

The data consists of qualitative, primary data gathered through semi‑structured interviews with employees working at different levels and roles within a single software development company. The purpose of the data was to capture participants’ lived experiences, perceptions, attitudes, and practices regarding the use and integration of AI in their daily work.Eight participants were purposively selected to ensure representation across strategic, technical, creative, and operational roles. The interviews explored how AI tools are currently used, the material (technological and infrastructural) and non‑material (cultural, attitudinal, and organisational) factors influencing AI integration, and perceived gaps between rapid technological advancement and organisational readiness.
