Lowered Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (LADCP) data collected near 16S in the tropical South Atlantic Ocean west, east, and over the Mid-Atlantic Ridge on cruise JC275.

This dataset contains Lowered Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (LADCP) data from cruise JC275, collected near 16S in the tropical South Atlantic Ocean west, east, and over the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The data were collected from 25th February to 26th March 2025. Most profiles were not full depth (upper 250-300 m or 500-1000 m), and therefore did not enable use of bottom-tracking in the velocity profile solutions. The LADCP data were processed using the LDEO-IX LADCP software, wrapped in the mexec/mstar software package. Both downlooker and uplooker LADCPs (2x TRDI Workhorse 300 kHz) were used in the processing, along with constraints from the CTD profile, shipboard GPS and shipboard ADCP (150 kHz Ocean Surveyor). Data is provided in standard LDEO-IX ASCII file formats and directory structure, with derived velocity profiles binned in 8 dbar intervals. The data were collected as part of the NERC Discovery Science project 'Enhanced carbon export driven by internal tides over the mid-Atlantic ridge' (CarTRidge) (grant ref NE/X013758/1).
